Stanley Boots Dworecki,
87, of Crestwood of Tanglewood Trace, Mishawaka, IN, formerly of
Mishawaka, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2006,
in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Boots
was born to Frank and Josephine (Was) Dworecki on May 8,
1919, in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident.
On May 8, 1948, he married Elda DeMeester,
who preceded him in death on June 6, 1997. Also preceding him in
death were two brothers, Valentine Dworecki and Joseph Dworecki;
and two sisters, Lottie Majewski and Mary Kowalski.
Boots retired from the
Studebaker Corporation and also from Wheelabrator Frye. He served
in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945, serving in the 6th
Armor Division and 10th Tank Battalion. Boots was
stationed at Camp Chaffee in Fort Smith, Arkansas, when December
7th occurred and our forces where struck at Pearl Harbor. He also
served in England, Belgium and saw parts of Buchenwald. Boots"
starting salary in the Army was $20 a month and eventually went
up to $50 a month. He also served in Camp Cook, CA, and Mojave
Desert. Boots was a longtime member of Saint Anthony
dePadua Catholic Church, South Bend, where he was inducted into
the Hall of Fame.
Surviving are six nieces and nephews, Judy
(John) Lehner, Mike Dworecki, Anne (Jim) Aitchison,
Mary (Greg) Miller, Mary Ann (Joe) Novetske and Joe
(Shirley) Majewski.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, November 11, 2006, in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222
W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, IN. Rev. Jeffery Largent will
officiate. Military services and entombment will follow at
Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2:00 to 7:00
p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528
Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited.
