SOUTH BEND - Joan Dutcher, 79, of South Bend, died at
11:33 p.m. Monday, June 4, in her residence surrounded by her
loving family. Joan was born July 24, 1927, in Gary, IN, to the
late Oscar and Margaret (Brissey) Jackson.
She was married June 28, 1969, in South
Bend, to Keith W. Dutcher, who died in January 1999. Joan is
survived by her twin sister, Jean Thornberg of Mishawaka,
IN; four nieces, Patricia Thornberg and Carol (Richard) Beagles,
both of Granger, Gail Pursell and her companion, Alan Seidler
of South Bend, and Carol Clark, also of Granger; a nephew,
Todd (Jill) Thornberg of LaGrange, IL; five great-nieces and two
great-nephews. Joan had worked for the Prudential Insurance
Company as an office manager for 30 years, retiring in 1979. She
was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. James in
South Bend. She enjoyed playing dominos with her many friends.
Funeral services will be held a 10 a.m.
Thursday, June 7, in the Episcopal Cathedral of St. James, 117 N.
Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, with Father David Ottsen and Rev.
Susan B. Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn
Cemetery, South Bend. Private family visitation will be held at
the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
