Oct. 22, 1932 - June 15, 2000

Goldy N. Durben, 67, of South 36th Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a courageous battle against cancer at 12:31 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, in her son's residence on West 16th Street, Mishawaka, Ind.

Goldy was born on Oct. 22, 1932, in Mishawaka, as the daughter of the late Merrill A. and Nancy M. (Waters) Stewart.

Goldy leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Christy Ann (Victor) Surdy of Paw Paw, Mich., Sarah Kathryn (Brian Smith) Niedbalski of Rolling Prairie, Ind., and Shelly Marie Holt of Norwich, Conn.; a son, Richard Lewis (Kellee Marie) Etter of Mishawaka; ten grandchildren, Kimberly and Greg Fugate of South Bend, Brandon Michael Surdy, Jessica Lynn Surdy, Alison Marie Surdy, all of Paw Paw, Tiffany Samson, Matthew Samson, Mitchel Samson, all of Norwich, Cory James Etter and Carly Michele Etter, both of Mishawaka; two great-grandchildren, Moranda Sue Fugate and Mariah Lexi Fugate; two sisters, Relna Wlodarski of South Bend and Yvonne McChesney of Mishawaka; two brothers, Tom Stewart of Mishawaka and Leo Stewart of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Goldy was employed by Kroger's for 21 years, retiring in 1995.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, June 16, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, in the funeral home, with Rick Cave officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
