Ann (Auchterlonie) Dunnuck passed
away on Monday, Dec. 24, after an extended illness. She was 77
years of age. She was born on July 31, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y.,
to Helen Titcomb Auchterlonie and A. James Auchterlonie.
Her childhood residence was Grosse Pointe, Mich., and Birmingham,
Mich. She attended Baldwin High School and in 1944 graduated from
Stephans College with a degree in marketing. She was employed at
J.L. Hudson Department Store.
On Jan. 30, 1945, she married Samuel R.
Dunnuck Jr., who survives. She is also survived by her son,
Samuel R. Dunnuck III; daughter, Deborah Dunnuck;
daughter-in-law, Pauline Martin Dunnuck; and grandchildren,
Loren, Suzanne and S. Rollin Dunnuck IV, all of Laramie, Wyo.
Ann never hesitated to support those in
need. She was a Cub Scout den mother, a volunteer at Niles
Electric Light School, a charter member of Fernwood, the first
woman elected to the Brandywine School Board, and gave aid to
numerous other charitable organizations. She was a member of the
Junior League of South Bend. From 1965 to 1970, while Deborah was
enrolled at Woods School in Pennsylvania, Ann was special
activities and fashion coordinator at Robertson's Department
Store and enjoyed presenting style shows with her Teen Board of
local school girls. She was a member of the Signal Point Club in
Niles, Mich., and organized a bridge group of which she was an
enthusiastic member.
Ann resided at 1417 McKinley Avenue in South
Bend until 1956, then at 2010 Bond Road, Niles, until 1988, then
at 1530 West River Road, Niles, and since January 2001 at 1716
North Shore Drive, South Bend. Ann particularly enjoyed her warm
association with her many friends. Her gay laughter and
exuberance will be sorely missed. She was a beautiful and
remarkable person. She was loved by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at a later
date. Memorial donations in Ann's remembrance may be made to Camp
Millhouse or to a charity of choice. The Welsheimer Funeral Home
is handling arrangements.
