SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Rosaleen (Margaret Mildred Dunleavy)
CSC, 95, was born in Harvard, NE, to the late John Richard Dunleavy
and Pearl Emma Gilchrist Dunleavy. She was predeceased by
her brothers and sisters. Sister is survived by her nephew, Greg
(Sheila) Kelly of Papillion, NE, and many other nephews
and nieces. Before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of
the Holy Cross in 1934, Sister had two years teacher's training
at Kearney State Teacher's College, Kearney, NE, and taught in
elementary school. After entering the Congregation Sister taught
a total of 27 years in elementary schools and in junior and
senior high schools in Indiana and Illinois. Sister Rosaleen
received her BA degree in Education and English from Saint Mary's
College, Notre Dame, IN, 1947, and her MS degree in Microbiology
from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore MD, 1961. At Saint
Mary's College sister taught Science in the Biology Dept. and
shifted to become the Director of College Archives until her
retirement, 1997. Sister was at the college for 39 years. She did
retire to Saint Mary's Convent and was active in the Ministry of
Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint
Mary's Notre Dame, IN 46556.
Reception of the body, Monday, December 22, at 9:30 a.m., in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 22, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
