Sister Marie Emile (Irene Therese
DuBois), CSC, 91, was born in Woonsocket, R.I., to the late
Emile W. DuBois and Emeline Bouffard DuBois. She is survived by
nieces, Beatrice (Howard) Holland of Eaton Rapids, Mich.,
and Dolores (William) Tyler of Fenton, Mich.; grandniece,
Michelle (Jeff) Gabolis of Mecosta, Mich.; and nephews,
Paul (Bonnie) Savage of Southgate, Mich., and Don Gregory
(Lori) Savage of Detroit, Mich.
Before entering the Congregation of the
Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1939, Sister was employed at General
Motors in Detroit, Mich. Sister Marie Emile was trained as a
teacher and taught for 23 years in elementary schools in
Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. She taught for 15 years in secondary
schools in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. When she returned to
Notre Dame, Sister taught French at Saint Mary's College for
three summers. She was a driver for the sisters as needed, helped
with office and clerical duties at St. Joseph's High School,
Notre Dame, and volunteered at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical
Center, South Bend, Ind. Sister retired to Saint Mary's Convent
in 2005 and was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint
Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Reception of the Body and Wake will
be today, July 5, 2006, at 4 p.m. in Church of Our Lady of
Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Ind. The funeral service will
be Thursday, July 6, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in Church of Our Lady of
Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Kaniewski Funeral Home is
handling arrangements.
