Brother John Paul Driscoll CSC, 59,
president of Holy Cross Junior College, died at 8 p.m. Thursday
of an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 22, 1927 in
Brooklyn NY. Survivors include a sister, Sister Mary CND,
of Ridgefield, Conn. He became a novice Aug. 15, 1891 and
professed his vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross Aug. 16,
1952. During World War II he served with the US Navy Atlantic
Fleet. He completed his undergraduate studies at St. Edwards
University in Austin, Texas, and earned his masters and doctorate
degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He served as a teacher
in Austin and Monroe, Mich., before his appointment commandant of
Sacred Heart Military Academy in Watertown, Wis. in 1955. In 1966
when Holy Cross Junior College was established, he became its
president and dean.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in St.
Joseph Chapel at the Holy Cross Brothers Center, with burial in
St. Joseph Cemetery, also at the Center. Friends may call after 4
p.m. Sunday at the Brothers Center Chapel, where a wake will be
at 7:30 p.m.
