Earl L. Drake

February 11, 1909 – May 3, 1986

Earl Drake, 77, of 2903 Jamestown Court S., Mishawaka, died at 8:30am Saturday in his home.  He retired in 1974 from The Tribune, where he worked in the composing room for 18 years.

He was born February 11, 1909, in Paw Paw.  He lived in South bend for most of his life.  On January 24, 1942, in South Bend, he married the former Olivia M. Whiteman.  She survives with a daughter, Anne Marie Doetsch of Mishawka; five sons, Edward Louise, Kenneth L. and Charles J, all of South Bend, Thomas R of San Diego CA and John C. of West Covina CA; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Irma Burch of Niles; and a brother, Robert Drake of Paw Paw.  A son, James Robert, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10am Monday in St Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.  Entombment will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park.  Friends may call form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm today in the Hickey Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 3:30pm.  He was a member of the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
