MISHAWAKA - Charles J. Drake, 51, of Mishawaka, passed
away on Sunday, Oct. 19th, in his residence surrounded by his
loving family after a long and courageous battle against cancer.
Chuck was born on May 24, 1957, in South Bend, to the late Earl
and Olivia Marie (Whiteman) Drake. On July 12, 1986, he
married the "love of his life," Melodye Hunt, in
Granger, Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Melodye; three
daughters, Cindy (Todd) Johns of Brandon, Mississippi,
Kathi Cseresznyak of Indianapolis and Amanda (Brad Ronan)
Drake of Mishawaka. He was the loving "PAPA" of three
grandsons, Cameron, Derrick and Nathan Johns, who were the light
of his life. He is also survived by four brothers, Edward (Sandy)
Drake of Fremont, Indiana, Thomas (Pattie) Drake of El Cajon,
California, John (Chris) Drake of West Covina, California, and
Ken (Robin) Drake of South Bend; along with one sister, Anne
Drake, also of South Bend. He was preceded in death by a brother,
Jimmy. Chuck was also a loving uncle to nine nieces and nephews,
and 12 great-nieces and nephews. Chuck was an avid Chicago Cubs,
Bears and Notre Dame fan. He was employed at Ancon Construction.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, October 21st, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., and one hour prior to the services. Funeral services celebrating Chuck's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22nd, in the funeral chapel. Burial is to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Memorial contributions in Chuck's name may be made to either the American Cancer Society
or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
