Sister Mary Canice CSC, 83, of St.
Mary’s Convent died there Sunday afternoon after a brief
illness. She was born Catherine Mary Doyle April 17, 1896
in Kilkenny. Ireland and entered the Congregation of the Sisters
of the Holy Cross on Aug. 15, 1924. She was received as a novice
on Aug. 15, 1925 and began her service Aug. 15 1927. She was a
registered nurse, having graduated from St. Alphonsus Hospital
School of Nursing in Boise, Idaho in 1930. She was assigned
to hospitals in Boise and Fresno, Calif. She retired from active
duty in 1970 and was assigned to St. Catherine’s Convent in
Ventura, Calif. until 1975 when she came to St. Mary’s
Convent. Survivors include a sister, Sister Mary Ita CSC
of St. Mary’s Convent and a cousin, Sister M. Josetta CSC
also of St. Mary’s Convent.
Services will be at 10a.m. Tuesday in Our
Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery
at St. Mary'’. Friends may call until services in the
convent parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
