SOUTH BEND - Roy E. Douthitt, 67, of 1622 Turtle Creek W., died at 5:37 a.m. Sunday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Indianapolis, after an illness. Mr. Douthitt was a retired self-employed salesman. He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Marion County, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1946, coming from Indianapolis.

In 1947, in Elkhart, he married Josephine DeVito. She survives with a daughter, Nanci Klaybor of LaPorte; a son, Michael J. of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; a sister, Mary Hendrickson of Center Point, Ind.; and a brother, William of Pear Blossom, Calif. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 624 and a veteran of World War II.

Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church. Cremation will take place. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
