J. Paul Douglass, 90, of Farnsworth
Drive, South Bend, died Friday in Memorial Hospital. He was born
on Feb. 20, 1912 in Lucerne, Ind., to Naomi (Bybee) and
James Walter Douglass and lived in the South Bend area for 48
years after coming from Evanston, Ill. He was the Senior Vice
President of the National Bank and Trust Co. in South Bend after
retiring in 1979. Then he was a past board member and president
of Goodwill Industries, a past board member of the American Red
Cross and past senior warden at St. Michael's and All Angels. He
was an armed services veteran - US Army, World War II. He retired
in 1977.
On Oct., 5, 1937 in Logansport, Ind., he
married Ora Barbara Graffis, who preceded him in death on
October 22, 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon D. Swintz
of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and a son, Jay Douglass of Oak
Park, Ill.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St.
Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 53270 N. Ironwood Dr.,
South Bend, with Rev. M Randall Melton officiating. Burial will
be at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be
made to Goodwill Industries of Michiana or to St. Michael and All
Angels Episcopal Church. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
