South Bend Tribune 1/28/1999
It was God's will to call Karla Doty
on Saturday evening, Jan. 23, in Elkhart General Hospital. Since
the Lord giveth, we all know that the Lord taketh away. He is
''Our Father'' and we are his children. Our prayer is ''Thy Will
Be Done''. Ms. Doty was born in South Bend, Ind. on Jan. 31,
1956. She currently was the manager of Tobacco Mart in Elkhart,
Ind., having had over 20 years of retail managing experience. Ms.
Doty was a graduate of LaSalle High School. In her childhood, she
became a member of St. Patrick's Church. After extensive training
for modeling, she was featured regularly at fund raising style
shows for college education scholarships. Her natural elegance
and attractive personality proudly displayed a wardrobe
consisting of originals created just for her by her grandmother,
the late and well known seamstress, Mercidee Johnson.
She is survived by her loving mother, Patsy Hawley
of South Bend; her sisters, Keri M. Davis, Kimberly A.
Doty, Nann H. Doty, Kyle Doty Miller, all of South Bend,
and Cassell Doty of Niles, Mich.; brothers, Alfred S. Doty of
Chicago, Ill., Grant Rodney Martin, Nashville, Tenn., Eric
Ricky Doty, South Bend; and by many caring nieces, nephews and
cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Eric Doty; a
daughter, Danielle Wynn; and by her grandmother, Mercidee Johnson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday in
Clark's Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours before
services. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Her memory lingers
in our hearts.
