Akil Lateef Dorsey, 19, of Gary, Ind., was born to Rita Allen and Michael Dorsey on March 20, 1976, in Balti-more, Md.

He found God at an early age. He graduated from Park Forest High School in Bal-timore. He attended ITT in Fort Wayne, Ind., and was employed with Tugtell and, more recently, with Casa Gallardo. He was accepted into the Railroad Training Program at Calumet College of St. Joseph.

He departed this life on Friday, Jan. 8, leaving a loving and dedicated mother, Rita (David) Osika of South Bend, Ind.; his father, Michael (Carolyn) Dorsey of Baltimore; stepfather, Perry Gordon, III, of Merrillville, Ind.; two brothers, Asim Dorsey and Perry Gordon, IV, both of South Bend; a stepbrother, Jeremy Osika of Michigan City, Ind.; two sisters, Amber Gordon of South Bend and April Gordon of Gary; loving grandmothers, Venetia Williams of Gary, Doris Dorsey of Baltimore and Eunice Allen of East Chicago, Ind.; grandfather, Rosenwald Allen of East Chicago; six devoted uncles, Eric Williams of Gary, Otha (Gladys) Williams, III, of Dayton, Ohio, Ronald (Cary) Allen of Denver, Colo., Brandon Adama of Richton Park, Ill., Raymond Allen of Gary and Rosenwald (Tracy) Allen, Jr., of Merrillville; two faithful and loving aunts, Rosemary (Victor) Martin of Cerritos, Calif., and Linda (Edmund) Gunn of Merrillville; 13 ardent cousins, Kenyatta, Kareem, Megan, Morgan, Ryan, Laura, Nathan, Evan, Jared, Khriyah, Brianna, Ronnie and Triston; and by a host of friends, family and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Otha Williams, Jr., Preston McGregory and Edward ''Chief'' Dorsey.

His memory will be lovingly cherished by many.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today in the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Avenue, Gary, Ind.
