John William Dorbin Sr

MISHAWAKA - John William Dorbin Sr., 66, passed away on
Wednesday, April 30 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South
Bend. John was born on January 31, 1942, in Mishawaka, as the son
of Michael and Anna (Dorogi) Dorbin. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and a sister Elsie Pomper.
On August 17, 1967 in St. Patrick's Catholic
Church, South Bend he married the former Laura Marie Patterson.
Surviving John are his wife, Laura; four children, Ann Marie
(Dennis) Holler of West Lafayette, IN, John William
(Shirley) Dorbin Jr. of Goshen, Matthew Robert Dorbin of Seattle,
WA and Melanie (Sam) Balog of Noblesville, IN; five
grandchildren, Grace Holler, Cecilia Holler, Meredith Dorbin,
Gabriel Holler and Erica Dorbin; two sisters, Anne Stier
of Mishawaka and Julie (Jay) Tang of St. Charles, IL; five
brothers, Michael (Mary) Dorbin of Mishawaka, Charles (Jean)
Dorbin of Spring, Texas, George (Lorraine) Dorbin of Colorado
Springs, CO, Steve Dorbin and Paul (Mary Jo) Dorbin both of
Mishawaka. John was the owner and operator of Dorbin's
Supermarket, Mishawaka for 36 years. He was a Veteran of the
United States Army where he served during Vietnam. He was a
member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles, Moose and Queen of
Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka. John was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a good man who
always took care of others, whether it was a family member,
employee, friend or just someone in need. John will truly be
missed not only by his family and friends, but by the community.
Family and friends may gather on Sunday, May
4 from 2 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. in Hahn Funeral
Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, to remember John. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. in
Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Dan Scheidt
officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
