Sister M. Verda Clare Doran CSC

A mass of resurrection for Sister M. Verda Clare Doran CSC, 84, of St. Mary’s Convent,  who died Thursday afternoon in the convent will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Church of Loretto and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call in the convent parlors, where a wake service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday.

 

She was born Doroithy Elizabeth Doran July 13, 1902 in Milford, Ill. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross Feb. 2, 1924 coming from Rockford, Ill. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1924 and professed her vows Aug 15, 1926. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1923 and received her Masters degree in French and philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. From 1947 to 1954 she taught at St. Mary’s College. In 1954 she was Assigned to Cushing College in Brookline, Mass. She served as Provincial Superior of the Midwest Province until 1969. In 1978 she returned to Bertrand Hall, and she lived at St. Mary’s Convent since 1983.
