SOUTH BEND - William W. Dominic, 90, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 13, in St. Paul's Retirement Community Health Center. William was born February 4, 1917, in LaPorte, to the late William G. and Katherine (Wandel) Dominic. The family moved to South Bend when William was a small child. William was a 1935 graduate of South Bend Central High School and the University of Notre Dame where he received a B.S. degree in commerce and accounting in 1941. He worked in the accounting field and later worked at the University of Notre Dame as an administrator, retiring in 1982.

On August 28, 1951, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, he married Eileen P. Hiss, who died November 3, 2001. Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Katherine Ann, and two sisters, Teresa and Irene Dominic. Surviving are a son, Mark W. of South Bend; a daughter, Mary (Joel) Benkie; and two grandsons, Kyle and Trevor of Coto de Caya, California. William was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid reader of history and theology.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 17, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the Notre Dame campus. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until services Friday morning in the basilica. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60604. The family wishes to thank the nurses, therapist and aides at St. Paul's for their fine and compassionate care of Dad during the past six months. The HICKEY Funeral Homes, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., is in charge of arrangements.
