9, 1929 - Oct. 23, 2008SOUTH BEND - Catherine Fern Doerr, 79, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008, in Regency Place, South Bend. She was born on September 9, 1929, in Lakeville, IN, to Alva and Vera (Overholt) Grenert. On September 11, 1954, in North Liberty, IN, she married Paul F. Doerr, who survives. Mrs. Doerr is also survived by a daughter, Paula J. Doerr of South Bend, IN; two sons, Larry Grenert and Gary Doerr, both of South Bend, IN; love daughter, Diana Hoffman of Mishawaka, IN; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; three sisters, M. Mary Schlemmer of North Liberty, IN, Joyce Grenert of South Bend, IN, and Sue LaGue of South Bend, IN; and a brother, Jesse Grenert of South Bend, IN. One sister, Martha Warner, and five brothers, Walter, William, John, George and Elmer Grenert, all preceded her in death. Mrs. Doerr was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of North Liberty High School. Mrs. Doerr retired from South Bend Plastics where she was employed for over 25 years. She was a member of the First Brethren Church where she served as a Deaconess. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in the First Brethren Church, 4909 S. Ironwood, South Bend. Rev. Larry Baker will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday in the church before the service.
