SOUTH BEND - Alan Doehrer, 61, of Blue Jay Drive, died of
natural causes at 4 p.m. Monday in his home. He was born March
26, 1946, in Galien, MI, to the late Albert and Frances Doehrer.
On Nov. 24, 1981, he married Montene Strickland.
He graduated from the University of Michigan as an electrical
engineer and was a longtime employee of the Northrop Corp. where
he worked as a project engineer. He was a U.S. Army veteran,
serving during Vietnam, when he was stationed in Germany. He was
a member of American Legion Post 344 in Galien.
Survivors include his wife, Montene;
stepdaughters, Dorothy (Christophe) Humeau of New Carlisle
and Crystal (Terry) Gramenz of Osceola; grandchildren,
Brandy of Niles, Jade of Elkhart, Natalie, Brooke, Nico
and Emily of New Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron and
Samantha of Niles; brothers, Robert (Shirley) Doehrer of
Stevensville and Jerry (Becky) Doehrer of Baroda; nephews, Rob
and Jer, both of Michigan; niece, Lisa of Michigan;
brother-in-law, Frank (Sharon) Strickland of Michigan; and
sisters-in-law, Sara (Howard) Gogley, Josephine Ulrey
and Joyce Strickland, all of Michigan, and Retha (Jack) Tesch
of Elkhart.
Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN. The Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, Osceola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
