Alfred H. Dobrodt, 70, of West 12th
Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at
9:35 a.m. on Friday, May 28, in St. Joseph Community Hospital,
Mishawaka. Alfred was born on Oct. 14, 1928, in Mishawaka, to the
late Arthur and Ida (Frohwerk) Dobrodt.
On Feb. 10, 1950, Alfred married the former
Lois Thomas, who preceded him in death on March 16, 1979.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Alfred Thomas Dobrodt. On
June 25, 1981, he married the former Donna Woolworth Johnson,
who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Diana Hampton
of Mishawaka; a stepdaughter, Michelle (Dale) Winterman of
Mishawaka; a stepson, Bryan Johnson of Mishawaka; six
granddaughters and four grandsons; two great-granddaughters and
three great-grandsons; and by a brother, Arthur Dobrodt of
Dowagiac, Mich. Alfred had formerly worked at A.M. General and
also did security work. He was active for 40 years with the
Mishawaka Civil Defense and Special Police. His hobbies included
building radio-controlled airplanes and a passion for fishing.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. on Monday, May 31, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home,
Mishawaka. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, in
the funeral home, where friends may also visit one hour prior to
the service. Rev. Kenneth Mangelsdorf, pastor of St. Peter
Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
