Woodward L. Dilts, 79, residing on
Manchester Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:30 a.m. on
Wednesday, May 31, in his home. Mr. Dilts was a retired employee
of the Dodge Reliance Division, Mishawaka, Ind. He was born on
April 9, 1921, in Albion, Ind., to the late Lewis and Anna (Sonchi)
Dilts, and had lived in South Bend since 1947, coming from
LaGrange, Ind. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Ewers;
and by two brothers, Howard Dilts and Russell Dilts.
On March 1, 1946, in Kendallville, Ind., he
married Violet Henderson. He is survived by his loving
wife, Violet of 54 years; a daughter, Sheila Dilts of Mishawaka;
two sons, Rev. Woodward L. (Mary) Dilts, Jr., of Sugar Grove,
Ill., and Douglas C. (Jennifer) Dilts of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a
sister, LeLaura Calvert of Mishawaka; six grandchildren,
Kimberly Willson, Kari Moseley, Chad Dilts, Kristie
Starnes, Nathaniel Dilts and Mandi Peterson; and by
five great-grandchildren, Bradley Willson, Andrea Willson,
Christopher Moseley, Katelyn Moseley and Coleton Starnes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
June 3, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South
Bend. Rev. Woodward L. Dilts, Jr., will officiate. Burial will
follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The
family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 2, in
the Palmer Funeral Home.
