Mr. Daniel Dillon, 87, of North
Frances Street, expired of natural causes on Friday, Sept. 21, in
his residence. He was born to the union of Hillary and Mae Rose
Dillon on Sept. 12, 1914, in Tyler County, McComb, Miss. He
resided in Chicago, Ill., for many years, working for a Chicago
produce company.
He retired in 1980, moved to South Bend,
Ind., and married Loveless Hall on Nov. 29, 1980. He joined the
Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church in 1997, under the
leadership of Pastor Billy W. Kirk. Mr. Dillon leaves to cherish
his memory his wife, Loveless; two sons, Daniel Dillon Jr. of
Long Beach, Calif., and Danny Dillon of Chicago; a daughter,
Doris Dean (Morris) Brown of Los Angeles, Calif.;
grandchildren, Kimberly Shofner of Bell Flower, Calif.,
Alton and Anthony Barton of Los Angeles, Rhoda Dillon of
Atlanta, Ga., and Rebecca Dillon Howell of Fort Wayne,
Ind.; a stepson, Kevin Anthony Hall and his wife,
Triannetta, with sons, Bradley, Kevin and Kavon, all of South
Bend; two nieces, Shelma Dillon and Larone Dillon Shepard; two
nephews, Jerome and Samuel Earl Dillon, all of Chicago; six
sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; a very special friend,
Joe Howard of South Bend; and a host of relatives and
friends. Mr. Dillon was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay
Frances Merrideth; his brother, Samuel Dillon; and by a
grandson, Cedric Kevin Kaufman.
Funeral services for Daniel Dillon will be
held at noon Thursday, Sept. 27, in The Greater St. John M.B.
Church, 101 N. Adams Street, South Bend, with visitation from one
hour before services. Burial will follow the funeral service at
Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has
been entrusted with funeral services.
