James Dillard

Mr. James "KY" Dillard, 77,
who resided on Napier Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away from
this life following an illness at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, May 30, in
the Saint Joseph Care Center-West.
James, son of the late Ralph and Ada (Wilson)
Dillard, was born May 30, 1925, in Hopkinsville, Ky. He was also
preceded in death by two sons, Larry Dillard and Fernando
Dillard. He served the United States Navy and was honorably
discharged on Jan. 29, 1946, receiving the American Area, Victory
and Asiatic Pacific Ribbons. In 1948, coming from Hopkinsville,
he relocated to South Bend. He was a retired employee from Allied
Signal where he was a member of Allied UAW.
In South Bend, on Nov. 29, 1950, James
married Mable White. Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife,
Mable Dillard; two daughters, Mary Lou Dillard of South Bend and
Margaret Ann Dillard of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a son, John (Jacqueline)
Dillard of South Bend; a stepson, Lynn Bachelor of
Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren;
three sisters, Mary Wilson Turner of South Bend, Elaine Elliott
and Ann Huddleston, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; a special
niece, Bobbi Fisher of South Bend; along with other nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Friday in Alford's Mortuary, with Reverend Donald Alford
officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery,
South Bend. Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. on Friday in
Alford's Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted.
