SOUTH BEND - Tatiana Difley, 90, of South Bend, passed
away from natural causes at 2:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9th, in her
home. Mrs. Difley was born on June 10, 1917, in St. Petersburg,
Russia, to the late Paul and Elisabeth (Kanine) Kanevsky.
Although her birth was in Russia, Tatiana was raised in France.
She moved to America at the age of 29 and had lived in South Bend
since 1946, with the exception of living in Kentucky for 13
years.
Tatiana married on March 17, 1946, in
Marseilles, France, to Steven Medich. Her first husband,
Steven, preceded her in death. She married June 26, 1965, in
Osceola, IN, to Charles Rogers Difley, who preceded her in death
on July 17, 1998. One sister, Olga Onatzky, also preceded
her in death in Marseilles, France. She is survived by her
nephews, Michel, Jean Paul Pierre Andre Onatzky, and a number of
grandnieces and nephews, all of whom reside in France. Tatiana
was a very talented and active woman. While living in France she
worked as a sports reporter. She was formerly a seamstress while
working at the Milady Shop and was an accountant for a number of
years, including Ziker Cleaners and Schilling's Photo and
Catholic Supply. Tatiana was also self-employed as a ceramicist
in Kentucky. She was a graduate of Sorbonne L'Ecole Normale, a
college in Paris, and was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Tatiana is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and
Gregory Kush of South Bend. Catherine will miss her mother
dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, May 13, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel,
3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Father George
Konstantopoulous of St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church will
officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn
Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to
8 p.m. on Monday, May 12th, in the funeral home. Contributions in
