Sister M. Victoria Diehl CSC

Sister M. Victoria (Margaret Victoria Diehl), CSC, 100, was born in Lancaster, Pa., to the late Peter Diehl and Margaret Bresch Diehl.

 

Sister M. Victoria received her bachelor of music degree from VonUschuld University, Washington, D.C., in 1923, and her master of music degree from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1949. Sister taught at Holy Cross Academy, Saint Cecilia's Academy, Saint Patrick's Academy and St. Joseph's Home in Washington, D.C. She also taught at Saint Catherine's Normal, Baltimore, Md., Sacred Heart Academy, Lancaster, Saint Mary's Academy, Alexandria, Va., St. Paul's School, N.Y., Holy Cross High School, Riverside, N.J., and St. Joseph's Academy, South Bend, Ind. She was principal at Sacred Heart Academy and dean of girls at Holy Cross High School. Sister Victoria ran Camp St. Vincent dePaul, Annapolis, Md., for nearly 20 years.

 

Sister taught music history at Cardinal Cushing College, Brookline, Mass. She retired to Saint Bernard's Convent, Riverdale, Md., and taught private piano students, taught choirs, played the harp and organ. She moved to Saint Angela Hall, Kensington, Md., in 1992, and then to Saint Mary's Convent, 1994, where she was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

 

Calling hours will begin at 4 p.m. today in the Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
