John DHoore
June 7, 1950 - March 22, 2006

On March 22, 2006, John A. DHoore, 55, passed away, ending his battle with cancer. This is a time to remember John for the kind person he was and celebrate him leaving his life here on earth and entering into his new spiritual one. John never really had a lot, but he did have a heart of gold, and would always help someone out.

John enjoyed country music, Notre Dame football and life. John was born in Calgary, Canada, but grew up in the South Bend area. He was a 1969 graduate of Riley High School and considered his time in the Band the best time of his life. After graduation John joined the Air Force. Most of his six years serving his country were overseas. In 1975 John took an early retirement from the Air Force and moved back to the area. Besides living in South Bend, John lived in England, Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.

John most recently worked for Papa John's and Between the Buns, Portage and Bullseye Liquor.

John is survived by a brother, Julian and his wife, Susan; a nephew, Christopher Dhoore, and his wife, Kristin, and their daughter, Samantha; his goddaughter, Cassandra, and her husband, Richard, and sons, David and Steven; an aunt, Simone Zacharuk, and husband, Peter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Alexandria, and also a younger brother, Rick.

Visitation will be held in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, today, March 24th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25th, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Barry England of St. Bavo Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be made at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN, at noon Tuesday, March 28, 2006.

John asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Southern Care Hospice and that you write your congressman or senator for increased and improved funding to our VA health system. As long as we send our loved ones in harms way, the government needs to be able to help those who suffer for their country.

We love you John, have a good trip home.
