Robert De Winter (Sept. 27, 1939 -- Oct. 3, 2004)

Robert De Winter, 65, of East Milton, South Bend, Ind., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 3, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

Robert was born on Sept. 27, 1939, as the son of Eugene and Helen (Bokor) De Winter, who preceded him in death.

On Aug. 25, 1962, in St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, South Bend, he married Judy Lapkiewicz. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Judy; a daughter, Deb (Mike) Cseh, and a son, Douglas (Jennifer) De Winter, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Emily, Adam and Kate Cseh, and Addison De Winter; a sister, Barbara (Roger) Spitaels; and two brothers, Ronald (Elizabeth) and James (Jane), all of Mishawaka, Ind.

Robert was a lifetime area resident. He was the owner/operator of Bob's Barber/Stylist Shop in Mishawaka for the past 18 years. Prior to that he was employed by Eddie's Barber Shop for 25 years. He was a past president of the BK Club, Mishawaka. He was a wonderful, caring father and wonderful grandfather. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle whenever he had the chance and the nice weather, spending time with his family and friends. He basically just loved being around people. His most cherished memory was the last family trip to Las Vegas, Nev.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 5, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, in St. Matthew Catholic Cathedral, South Bend, with Rev. Michael Heintz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Robert to the American Heart Association, Memorial & Tributes Program, Dept. 77-3968, Chicago, IL 60678-3968.

SOUTH BEND -- Robert E. De Winter, 65, of East Milton Street, died Sunday in Memorial Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Judy (Lapkiewicz); a daughter, Deb Cseh of South Bend; a son, Douglas of South Bend; a sister, Barbara Spitaels of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Ronald and James, both of Mishawaka. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Matthew Cathedral. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Hahn Funeral Home.
