Daniel F. DeVreese Jr., 82, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 6 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2006, in his home.

Daniel was born on June 22, 1923, in South Bend, IN, to Daniel F. DeVreese Sr. and Anna Marie (Kruk) DeVreese. He retired in October 1989 as Seargent Major from the St. Joseph County Police Department.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Virginia C. "Ginny" (Aftowski) DeVreese; one daughter, Ann M. Delgado of South Bend, IN; three sons, Richard T. DeVreese of South Bend, IN, Jeffery W. (Tammie) DeVreese of South Bend, IN, and Daniel F. (Jennifer) DeVreese III, of South Bend, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Candy, Danyelle, Trisha, Stacey, Kelly, Chris, Lauren, Michael, Aaron, Austin, Garrett, Kristi and Stephanie; eight great-grandchildren; and by one sister Elinor Andrzejewski of South Bend, IN.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Beth Dianne DeVreese; two grandchildren, Kesha and Zack; and by one sister, Margaret Hartz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2006, in Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.

Daniel was a member of Christ the King Parish and had attended Riley High School, where he served as Class President his freshman year. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran, serving in the 53D Military Police Company, and was a member and past president (1972) of the F.O.P. #155.
