Elsie DeVleigher, 84, formerly of Mishawaka, died on Nov. 6, 1997 in Vero Beach, Fla., after an illness. Elsie had lived the past 26 years in Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach, Fla., after having been a lifelong Mishawaka resident prior to that.
On June 14, 1913, Elsie was born in Mishawaka to Maurice and Zelma (Bokhart) Biesbrook whom have both preceded her in death.
In Mishawaka on Oct. 26, 1935, Elsie married Domien (Toby) DeVleigher, who survives. Also surviving are a brother, Henry Biesbrook of Mishawaka; a nephew, Devon Biesbrook of Mishawaka; a niece, Barbara Clark of Mishawaka; 18 cousins, Henrietta Fox, Agnes S. Ernst, Margaret Ransberger, Elizabeth (Betty) Jennings, William L. Bokhart, Augusta M. Gilman, Virginia Rose DeGeyter, Catherine M. DeVreese, Arthur C. Bokhart, and Richard Bokhart, all of Mishawaka, Mary R. Bokhart and Eugenia (Louise) Rice of South Bend, Christine D. Biery of Bremen, Ind., Mary Ann Schiebelhut of Cassopolis, Mich., Josephine Ann Wachs of Osceola, Alice C. DiRocco of Canton, Ohio, Mary Ann Lehner of Granger, and Eleanor M. Trippel of Lakeland, Fla.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Raymond and John Biesbrook.
Elsie had been employed for many years at Uniroyal, Inc., in Mishawaka and was a former member of St. Bavo Catholic Church. She was a member of the Vero Beach Shuffleboard Club, and the Arts and Crafts and Shuffleboard Club at Indian River Estates where she resided.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, with Fr. James Shafer officiating.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
