Sister Maria Benedicta Deur CSC, 97, of Saint Mary’s, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in her residence. She was born March 19, 1896 in Missouri Valley, Iowa as Clementine Deur.  She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Sept. 13, 1917; was received as a novice on Jan. 1, 1918; and professed her final vows on Jan. 6, 1920. She was assigned to teaching in elementary schools and taught music at St. Joseph School, South Bend; and schools in California until 1974, returning to St. Mary’s.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial following in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday in the convent where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
