SOUTH BEND - Raymond M. De Smet, 72, of North Sheridan Avenue, died at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after an illness. Mr. De Smet retired from Inland Distributing Co. He was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Mishawaka.

On Oct. 27, 1948, in Germany, he married Herta Frank. She survives with two daughters, Madeline Manns and Michele Forray, both of South Bend; a son, George of Granger; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9820.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until services on Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
