MISHAWAKA - Cecelia Derbin, 91, of Mishawaka, passed away
July 21st in her home. She was born on November 21, 1916, in
Milwaukee, WI, to the late Elizabeth and Anthony Cyganek.
She moved to his area at the age of six and had resided here
since then. Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, Michael
Derbin, and her brother, Lawrence Cyganek. She is survived by her
daughter, Julie Gollings (Jack); son, George Derbin
(Dolores); son, John Derbin; and three grandchildren, Michael
John Derbin, Kristina Green and Johanna Eibel.
Cecelia graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1935 and received
a scholarship to the South Bend College of Commerce. She
graduated from there in 1937 and worked at Ball Band as a
secretary. She married Michael Derbin on June 14, 1942, and left
Ball Band to travel from Army base to Army base with Michael
until he was shipped overseas in World War II. After the war,
Cecelia worked alongside Michael in there businesses, Mishawaka
Warehouse and Distributing Company for many years. She was a
member of the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, for over
60 years, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Valley
Chapter 594.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.
today, July 22nd, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. A
memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 23rd, at 10 a.m. in
the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Memorial contributions may
be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Third Street,
Mishawaka, IN 46544.
