Richard H. ''Dick'' Deranek, 74, of Fairfield Lane, Granger, Ind., died at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1925 to Joseph and Hattie (Stachowiak) Deranek, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Deranek.

Mr. Deranek retired as vice-president of the Teachers Credit Union in 1979.

On Nov. 12, 1949, in South Bend, he married Anadell Dreibelbis, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Richard L. (Sandi) Deranek of Niles, Mich., Steven G. (Sherri) Deranek of Goshen, Ind., and Robert Lee Deranek of South Bend; four grandchildren, Gregory Lee, Michael Steven, Caitlin Marie and Casey Michael; a sister, Phyllis Fay of South Bend; and by four brothers, Alex Deranek and Joseph Deranek, both of South Bend, Chester Deranek of Mishawaka, Ind., and James Deranek of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was a member of the Indiana University Men's Varsity Club, NFL Players Association, NFL Alumni, Indiana Football Hall of Fame in Richmond, Ind., St. Joseph Chapter of the Indiana Hall of Fame, and a member of the 1945 Indiana University Big Ten Football Champions, and a member of the selection committee of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Stanislaus B & M Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
