Michael A. Derdak, 75, of Old Ridge Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Derdak was born on Aug. 5, 1923 in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. He retired in 1985 from NIPSCO.
On April 29, 1950, in South Bend, he married Irene Keszei, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Christine (Gary) Hawkins of South Bend and Margaret (Jerry) Kostielney of Hockessin, Del.; two sons, Michael J. (Dolores) Derdak of Carmel, Ind. and Vincent Derdak of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Stephanie and Kelly Derdak, both of Zionsville, Ind., Mollie, Spencer, Louis and Mary Margaret Kostielney, all of Hockessin; and by one brother, Edmund Derdak of San Francisco, Calif.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Derdak was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was also a member of United Steel Workers of America and the St. Joseph River Valley Fly Fishermen.
