Celia DePalma, of Berkshire Drive, South Bend, formerly of Providence R.I., passed away at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at her home, after a short illness. She was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Providence, R.I.
As Celia Mancini, she married Domenic J. DePalma on Nov. 25, 1948, in Providence, R.I. Celia was employed by Ronnies Jewelry in Providence, and was assistant manager of Lerner's of South Bend, Ind.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Joanne Birdsell; two sons, Michael and Ronald; 11 grandchildren, Michael DePalma of Cheyenne, Wy., Ron, Tasha and Blake Rabbitt, all of Houston, Texas, Nicholas, Romulus, and William DePalma, all of Bremen, Ind., Nicole DePalma, Carrie DePalma, Elizabeth Poindexter and Derek Birdsell, all of Granger; and a sister, Elena Mancini of Providence, R.I.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind. 46545. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Jude Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County. Mrs. DePalma was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, South Bend, the Ladies of the Elks B.P.O.E. South Bend 235, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 329, Cranston, R.I. Rosary services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North.
