Joseph A. De Neve, 81, formerly of West 8th Street, Mishawaka, passed away after an illness in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joe was born November 11, 1913 in New Haven, Ind., as the son of the late Camiel and Leonie (De La Cluyse) De Neve. Joe was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Frank De Neve.
On June 7, 1945, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, he married Elaine L. Farrell, who still survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Sharon De Neve of Porter, Ind., and Katheryn (Philip) Burner of Mainsville, Ohio; one granddaughter, Anne Burner of Mainsville, Ind.; two sisters, Clara "Dutchie" Edgerton and Magdalene Van Wamzeele, both of South Bend, In; two brothers, Fierman De Neve of Mishawaka, Ind. and Frances De Neve of Bradenton, Fla.
Joe worked at Studebaker's for 24 years and worked for Dodge Manufacturing for 17 years before retiring in 1983. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served his country during WW II. Joe was a lifetime area resident and a member of the V.F.W. Post 360, D.A.V. Chapter 6 of South Bend, B.K. Club, and St. Bavo's Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Wake Prayers at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday January 29, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 30 in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Rev. Barry England will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
