WALKERTON - Margaret J. DeMyer, 93, of Walkerton, IN, passed away
at 12:55 p.m. on February 15, 2010, in the Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth, IN. Mrs. DeMyer was born May 30, 1916,
in Walkerton, to the late Lloyd and Dora (Freed) Knowlton. She
had remained a lifelong area resident. On November 2, 1936, in
Chicago, IL, she married Arthur L. DeMyer, who preceded her in
death on May 19, 1976. Mrs. DeMyer was also preceded in death by
her precious baby daughter, Janice; two sisters, Freda Ross and
Writhe Hostetler; and four brothers, Howard, Harold, Russ and
Dean Knowlton. Mrs. DeMyer was a homemaker and for many years
worked part-time as a typesetter at the Walkerton Independent
News. She spent many winters in Lake Placid, Florida, where she
enjoyed golf, friends and the warm weather. She was a member of
Walkerton United Methodist Church. Mrs. DeMyer is survived by one
son, Craig (Kathy) DeMyer of Plymouth, IN; two granddaughters,
Alyssa (Phil) Summers of Fort Wayne, IN, and Ashley DeMyer of
Indianapolis, IN; and four step-grandchildren, Chris, Jessica,
Samuel and Joely. She loved spending time with her three
great-grandchildren, Cameron Summers, Jaiden Alexander and
Josalyn Hollar. She is survived by one brother, Kenneth (Sarah)
Knowlton of Morgantown, West Virginia. Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, February 18, 2010, in the
Walkerton United Methodist Church. Pastor Char Allen will
officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Woodlawn
Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to
7 p.m. EST today, February 17, 2010, in Rannells Funeral Home,
Koontz Lake, IN, and one hour prior to services in the church.
