MISHAWAKA - Floris ''Cec'' DeMaegd, 78, of Cedar Road, died at 6:37 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. DeMaegd retired in 1980 after 43 years of service from Dodge Reliance Electric Co. He was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Mishawaka.
On Sept. 20, 1941, in Mishawaka, he married Lois Sanders. She survives with two daughters, Janet Toth of Lakeville, and Marianne Flourney of Mishawaka; two sons, Michael and James, both of Mishawaka; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Hassan of South Bend, and Margaret Seeley and Mary Finn, both of Mishawaka; and five brothers, Cyriel and Raymond, both of Mishawaka, Julius of South Bend, Arthur of Cassopolis, and Leon of San Diego, Calif.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Queen of Peace Church, BK Club, BK Archery, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, Knights of Columbus Council 8617, and the Quarter Century Club of Dodge Reliance.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hahn Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
