Cyriel DeMaegd, 78, of Mishawaka,
passed away Tuesday morning, September 5, 2006, in Fountainview
Place of Mishawaka. Cy was born January 17, 1928, in Mishawaka, a
son of the late Edmond and Julia (Warnier) DeMaegd. He
grew up in Mishawaka and graduated from Mishawaka High School.
Cy served his country in the U.S. Army from
1950 to 1952 during the Korean War, and following the service he
returned to Mishawaka. Cy was employed for 30 years at Dodge
Manufacturing and for 16 years at the University of Notre Dame.
He was a member of the Mishawaka Alumni Association, the VFW and
the American Legion. Cy enjoyed bowling and over the years bowled
on many leagues.
Cy's surviving family includes two brothers,
Raymond (Margaret) DeMaegd of Mishawaka and Julius (Lorna)
DeMaegd of South Bend; three sisters, Margaret Seeley of
Florida, Mary Finn of Mishawaka and Alice (Daniel) Hassan
of South Bend; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He
was preceded in death by five brothers, Leon, Henry, Omer, Floris
and Arthur DeMaegd; and by a sister, Irene Smith.
Friends may spend time with Cy's family from
5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today (Thursday) in Thallemer, Goethals &
Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. Services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel,
with Pastor Brad Windlan officiating. Burial will follow at
Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
