OSCEOLA -- Arthur P. DeMaegd, 93, of Wynnewood Drive, formerly of Mishawaka, died Sunday in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa.

 

Survivors include a son, Carl of Osceola; three sisters, Margaret Seeley of Naples, Fla., Mary Finn of Mishawaka and Alice Hassan of South Bend; and three brothers, Ray and Cyriel, both of Mishawaka, and Julius of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Editor: On 10-27-1934 he married Susanna Tydgat in St. Joseph County IN. She died 3-17-1994.

De Maegd, Arthur Paul 93, of West Washington Street, Wakarusa, Ind., formerly of Savehead Lake, Peninsular Drive, Cassopolis, Mich., passed away 12:50 p.m. Sunday, March 7, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. Arthur was born on Feb. 11, 1911, in Mishawaka, Ind., as the son of the late Edmond and Zula (Warniers) De Maegd. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Smith; and five brothers, Floris, Omer, Cecil, Leon and Hank De Maegd.

 

In October of 1934 he married the former Susanna Tydgat, who preceded him in death on March 17, 1994. He is survived by a son, Carl (Rita) De Maegd of Osceola, Ind.; two grandchildren, John and Eugene De Maegd; three great-grandchildren, Daniel and Joseph De Maegd and Forrest Mendelshon; three sisters, Margaret Seeley of Naples, Fla., Mary Finn of Mishawaka, and Alice Hassan of South Bend, Ind.; and three brothers, Ray of Mishawaka, Julius of South Bend and Cyriel of Mishawaka.

 

Arthur was a lifetime area resident. He worked at Uniroyal for 35 years until he retired in 1973. He was a past member of the Post Card Club, the Audubon Society, Stamp Club, Coin Club and the Gem and Mineral Society of Elkhart. Arthur was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him, but he will never be forgotten.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today, March 9, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, in the funeral home with Rev. Brad Windlan officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Contributions in memory of Arthur may be made to the Salvation Army, 1026 Dodge Ave., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
