Raymond D. de Lusignan

GRANGER -- Raymond D. de Lusignan, 85, of Grape Road, died Saturday evening, Feb. 10, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, South Bend. Raymond was born June 17, 1921, in Amoy, China, to Professor Dorrien and Beatrice (Charles) de Lusignan.

 

In December 1948, in South Bend, he married Moline Alice Ruggles, who survives along with two daughters, Valery (Timothy) St. Clair of South Bend and Christina (Michael) Gordon of Clare, Michigan; two sons, Dorien (Cheryl) of Zuni, Virginia, and Geoff (Teresa) of Granger; and seven grandchildren, from youngest to oldest: Sarah de Lusignan, Anna de Lusignan, Kayla Gordon, Brenda Gordon, Zachary Gordon, Jessica (St. Clair) (Robert) Monroe and Joseph St. Clair.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, and by a twin sister, Frances Miller of Whitefield, New Hampshire.

 

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today (Tuesday), February 13, in the HICKEY Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635, with Rev. Ed Mehaffie, retired pastor of the former Northside Assembly of God, South Bend, officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

 

Raymond joined the British Merchant Navy at the tender age of 14, getting an education and serving through World War II. He was serving on ships in the English channel on D-Day, 1944. He worked as a broker for the trucking industry, and that coupled with his Navy experience, he was able to travel to many places in the world. Raymond was an avid hunter, fisherman and boater. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and The National Rifle Association. Memorials for Raymond may be made to Reins of Life Therapeutic Horseback Riding, 55200 Quince Road, South Bend, IN 46619.
