MISHAWAKA - Elsie A. De Loof, 82, of Mishawaka, passed
away peacefully in her home during the evening hours of Thursday,
August 2. Elsie was born on November 8, 1924, in Mishawaka, as
the daughter of Morris and Clara (Monnaers) De Meyer. She
was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, August and
George De Meyer.
On September 24, 1949, in Mishawaka, as the
former Elsie De Meyer she married Rene C. De Loof.
Surviving Elsie are her loving husband of almost 58 years, Rene;
a daughter, Linda (Ned) Swanson of Mishawaka; three
grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) Saros, Jenell (Ryan) Pogue,
and Justin (Stephanie) Crook; five great-grandchildren,
Aubrey, Ashlyn, Jayden, Olivia, and Sam; two sisters Jackie De
Meyer and Simon Berta; and a brother Joseph De Meyer all
of Mishawaka. Elsie was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church and
the B K Club Ladies Auxiliary and DeAmicis Ladies Auxiliary. She
loved working at Regal Lanes where she was also an avid bowler.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Visitation for family and friends will be
from 2 to 6 p.m., with wake prayers at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday,
August 5, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday,
August 6, in St. Bavo Catholic Church with Rev. Barry England
officiating. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery
Mausoleum, Mishawaka. Contributions in memory of Elsie can be
made to Mayo Clinic and/or American Heart Association.
