George Delio
March 22, 1922 - July 8, 2000
George Delio, 78 years old,
residing on Hubbard Hill Lane in Elkhart, passed away at 6:12
a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2000, at the St. Joseph Regional Me-dical
Center, South Bend, from natural causes. Mr. Delio was born on March
22, 1922, in Mish-awaka, to the late Michael and Mary (Biello)
Delio. He was a resident of Mishawaka for 47 years prior to
moving to Elkhart 1½ years ago. On June 12, 1943, in South Bend,
he married Eva M. Gramm, who survives.
Along with his wife of 57 years,
Eva, survivors include one daughter, Dana (Terry ) Wilkins of St.
Louis, Mo.; two sons, Dennis (Martha) Delio of Goshen and Gary
(Kara) Delio of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren; and one brother, John Delio of Edwardsburg, Mich.
Two sisters and three brothers preceded in death.
Mr. Delio retired in 1985 after 35
years as a mechanical engineer. He was employed with Bendix
Corporation and Wheelabrator. He was a member of the Osceola United
Methodist Church and Professional Engineers Club. He graduated
from Purdue University, West Lafayette, in 1950, and earned his
master's degree from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend.
Mr. Delio was a tutor for many as well as teaching classes at the
Purdue University Extension in Elkhart and at Ivy Technical
Institute. Mr. Delio was also a licensed real estate broker, and
served his country with the United States Army during WWII.
Funeral services will be held at
10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at the Palmer Funeral Home,
1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola. Rev. Brian Beeks, pastor of the Osceola
United Methodist Church, will officiate. Graveside services and
burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Wakarusa. Friends may
visit with the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 10,
at the Palmer Funeral Home, Osceola.

Delio may be donated to the American Kidney Fund or to the Osceola
United Methodist Church.
