August A. DeKerr, 90, of Windsor Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Hospice House. He was born on Sept. 3, 1910, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. DeKerr retired in 1972 from the Torrington Company.

On May 15, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., he married Lillian Cieniewski, who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Camiel and Eugenia DeKerr; and by a sister, Mary Burns. He is survived by two sons, Blaine DeKerr and Ron (Lisa) DeKerr, both of South Bend; five grandchildren, Lauren DeKerr, Jason DeKerr, Nick DeKerr, Danielle Wheaton and Alexandra Wheaton, all of South Bend; and by a brother, Elmer (Helen) DeKerr of South Bend. Mr. De Kerr was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #58, Torrington Retirees Club, and Holy Family Catholic Church.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 7, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, in Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
