John Deka. John Deka, aged 85, of 529 Blaine avenue, died in the home of his son, Leo Deka, of the same address, at 11:45 a.m. Saturday after a week’s illness. He was born in Poland Feb. 2, 1852 and came to South Bend 55 years ago from that country. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Martha Niedzielski, Mrs. Mary Bartkowiak and Mrs. Lottie Peterson, South Bend, and Mrs. Pearl Himshoot, Mishawaka; 29 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The body may be viewed in the residence after noon today and until the funeral services, at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Hedwige’s Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Francis X. Luzny, C.S.C., the pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.
