Margaret A. Deitchley, 86, of South Bend, Ind., passed away early Thursday morning in Holy Cross Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Feb. 21, 1917, in South Bend, to Maurice and Marie (Naessen) Holvoet. Margaret grew up in South Bend and made the community her life-long home. On Jan. 10, 1941, she married Robert J. Deitchley in the church they attended, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In her earlier years, Margaret was the secretary for the South Bend Chief of Police. She later worked at St. Joseph High School and Osco Drug. Margaret was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice; a sister, Dorothy Kline; and by her husband, Bob in 2001. Her surviving family includes her son, Jeffrey (Haley) Deitchley of South Bend; a brother, George Holvoet of South Bend; a sister, Alice Winkley of Austin, Texas; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Noah and Hannah Deitchley. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill St., Mishawaka, Ind., with Rev. Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. There is no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center, 17475 Dugdale Drive, South Bend, IN 46635. The family is being served by Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. |
