Frank Deguch, 84, of South Olive Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short stay. Mr. Deguch was born on Aug. 20, 1912, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. He retired in September 1982 from the University of Notre Dame, and was also employed with the former Studebaker Corporation.
On April 15, 1939, in South Bend, he married Dorothy M. Corcoran, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Ms. Rosemary A. Jacks of South Bend; grandchildren, Craig Jacks of South Bend and Lisa and Mike Gabele of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and by a sister and her husband, Jenny and Clarence White of South Bend. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Kowalski and Mary Joachim; and by two brothers, Bert and Walter Deguch.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
