SOUTH BEND - Helen A. Deguc, 87, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Greenleaf Lane, South Bend, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, in Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas. Mrs. Deguc was born on Jan. 9, 1910, in Chicago, Ill. and lived here most of her life. She had lived in Dallas for the past 10 years with her daughter, Dorothy A. Deguch. Prior to that, she lived in South Bend with her son, Richard W. Deguch.
On Nov. 25, 1929, in South Bend, as Helen A. Grochowski, she married Walter G. Deguc who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Rose (Bielovaska) Grochowski. Mrs. Deguc is survived by one daughter, Dorothy A. Deguch of Dallas, one son, Richard W. and his wife, Lucy of South Bend; three grandchildren, Sue Ann Steininger of South Bend, Chris R. Deguch and Paul Deguch, both of South Bend; four great-grandchildren, Maria N. Steininger of South Bend, David P. Deguch and Theo J. Deguch, both of South Bend and Maxwell S. Steininger of South Bend; and one sister, Josephine (Banicki) Turza of South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in St. Casimir's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Lemos, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Mrs. Deguc was a member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church.
