SOUTH
BEND - Dorothy A. Deguch, 74, of South Bend, IN, passed
away at 11:55 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2007, in Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy
was born on January 11, 1933, in South Bend, to Walter
and Helen (Grohowski) Deguch. She had been employed as a
secretary for the Associates Corporation for 46 years,
retiring in 1997. She had started with the Associates
Corporation in South Bend, moved with them to Dallas, TX,
and retired back to South Bend to live near family and
friends, always keeping in touch with her Dallas friends
too. Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Parish.
She was a
former member of the Presbyterian Players and was the
first President of the Associates Woman's Club. She loved
music and sang in choirs throughout the years and played
the piano. She volunteered much of her time helping
others and many organizations. She volunteered locally at
the Studebaker National Museum and the St. Joseph County
Jail. She also enjoyed being a member of the South Bend
Police V.I.P.'s. Dorothy lived life to the fullest and
was always there to help anyone who needed it. She
touched all our lives deeply and we will miss her dearly.
Survivors
include one brother, Richard (Lucy) Deguch of South Bend,
IN; one nephew, Chris Deguch of South Bend; one niece,
Sue (Jeff) Steininger of Walkerton, IN; great-niece and
great nephew, Maria and Max Steininger; niece-in-law,
Annette Deguch of South Bend, IN; great-nephews and
great-niece, David, Theo, and Mackenzie Deguch; and by
many close cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. She was
preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Paul
Deguch.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10,
2007, in Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in St.
Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. on
Monday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana, the Officer
Paul R. Deguch Memorial Scholarship Fund at Community
Foundation of St. Joseph County, P.O. Box 837, South Bend,
