Rachel M. Decker, 86, of Wheatstone
Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Friday, March
26, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Rachel was born
on April 30, 1912, in Belgium, to Albin and Hortence (VanDenAbel)
Martens, who both preceded her in death. On April 10,
1937, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, as Rachel M.
Martens, she married John Phillip Decker, who passed away Jan. 1,
1983. Mrs. Decker is survived by three daughters, Judith
(Michael) Miller of South Bend, Ind., Susan (Fred) Goodyear
of New Orleans, La., and Linda (Paul) Bergan of Eau
Claire, Mich.; ten grandchildren and by seventeen
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Decker was a homemaker and a member of
St. Bavo Catholic Church, B-K Club, and St. Joseph Community
Hospital Auxiliary Tricians.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday in
St. Bavo Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Shafer.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Hahn Funeral Home,
505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be said at
6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
